Tasks & the Kanban board
Every chore has an owner — organize family work on a shared Kanban board.
Family Harbor turns household work into a shared Kanban board. The rule of the harbor: every task has an owner — nothing floats around unclaimed.
The board
Tasks move through simple columns — from To do, through In progress, to Done. Everyone sees the same board.
- Owner — the crew member responsible for moving the task to Done.
- Status — where the task is right now.
- Details — notes, due date and links to calendar events when relevant.
Creating a task
- Tap + on the board.
- Write the task — "Take out the recycling".
- Assign an owner and, if useful, a due date.
- Move it across the board as work happens.
Filtering by owner
Use the owner filter so each family member sees exactly their missions. Great for the morning dash: open your filter, see your day.
Recurring chores
Weekly chores work best as repeating tasks — take out the trash, water the plants, restock the pantry. When one round completes, the next appears automatically. No streaks, no guilt — see Wellness & playful progress for the philosophy.
Tasks and the harbor
Completing tasks earns the family XP and coins and fills the boat with cargo — real care becomes visible progress. Read more in Wellness trackers.
Pair tasks with the shared calendar for deadlines and with the shopping list when a task needs supplies.
